About the Chapter
Dear AGBC Frankfurt members and potential members,
Our chapter, located in Germany’s most international city, is the biggest AGBC chapter. We are a business-oriented networking group, with a strong emphasis on discussing today’s major economic and political issues in a non-partisan and friendly atmosphere.
We hold monthly luncheons or dinners at different hotels featuring a guest speaker. Plus we also hold informal Networking Nights, aka "First Thursdays" since that is the day of the month we lget together . All newcomers are welcome and no RSVP is required.
Recent speakers have included Sen. Daniel Coats, former U.S. Ambassador to Germany; Prof. Dr. Klaus Evard, founder of the European Business School in near-by Oestrich-Winkel; and Edward (Ned) Alford, the new U.S.Consul General in Frankfurt. These talks (always in English) are accompanied by short Question-&-Answer sessions with the audience.
An emphasis for our chapter is the second "Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow“ program, aimed at young German and American students aged 16 to 21. They learn to write business plans to develop their own ideas. These young people receive training during mentoring sessions with business executives. In addition to learning Business English, the students compete for cash prizes.
The Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow (EOT) program hopes to expand and attract even more support for German-American relations in the future. Addressing the younger generation, such an educational program is expected to play a major role for the AGBC in the years to come.
The support of our members and their companies are the network which makes all of this possible. We encourage you to join us. All AGBC meetings and events are held in English. Less than half of us are native speakers. And - despite our name - the AGBC is open to all nationalities who share our goals.
The Frankfurt chapter is also active socially, offering charity-oriented golf tournaments at Rheinblick Golf Club to Rheingau Musik Festival tickets each season. Such social events are a good way to cement friendships and also make new friends, another plus of the AGBC.
In addition to our programs, members of the AGBC have access to a new on-line Business Directory on this website (www.agbc.de). Your AGBC dues (75 euros as an individual;150 euros for a corporate membership) offer the best value-for-money deal in town.
Since we are 100% voluntary, we are only as good as our membership. We are always looking for those who want to get involved in contributing to their community. Come join us.
Best regards
David Knower
