About the International Office

To meet the needs of its growing membership in an expanding European marketplace, the American-German Business Club, first founded in Bonn in 1964, was expanded to Leipzig in 1992, Frankfurt/Main in 1994, Kaiserslautern in 1995, Düsseldorf, Heidelberg and Munich in 1996, Hamburg in 1998, Karlsruhe in 2000, Stuttgart and Bremen in 2003.

The reason we are international is because many AGBC members have passports from around the globe. And the most recent chapter, the AGBC Mobile/USA, which officially joined in 2009, is up and running in Mobile, Alabama. There is a large German-oriented business community there. Alabama is the state that attracted a Mercedes-Benz factory and where ThyssenKrupp Steel is building a new plant. So this first US chapter, already with more than 60 members, gives all AGBC members an open door in the United States. All active chapters are now members of the international Association of American-German Business Clubs e.V.

The AGBC Saxony succeeded the AGBC Leipzig in 2003. At the moment the chapter in Bremen is inactive.

The chapter in Hamburg was relaunched on November 27, 2007. President is Dr. Ralf Töllner. He can be contacted at blumenweg@gmx.de   For contact details of all chapters, see the AGBC website.
