A Special Thank-You from Our Past-President, Peggy Stinson:
From time to time, something out of the ordinary happens in life and you are reminded that there are nice people everywhere. Recently, the AGBC Stuttgart needed some small, wooden stands for the flags which we bring to our meetings. I looked in the phone book and after three attempts, landed on a local company which said they could make what we needed and in time for our next meeting. When I went to pick up the stands and pay the bill, the owner of the company, Mr. Werner Schleehauf, said to me, "Have a nice meeting and don't worry about the costs." I was surprised and asked what the reason was for his generosity, and he replied, "When we were in America, and it was September 11, we didn't know how the Americans would treat us there, and we were concerned. We were well received, and the American people were nice to us and welcomed us in their land. I'd like to give that back." Here is a "hats off" to Mr. Schleehauf and all of the other nice people out there in Germany who are trying to make this a more positive world.
